Our Story

Liberty Ventures was founded in 2023 by Alexander McCobin with a core purpose: help capitalists who believe in capitalism as a force for good do business together.

Beforehand, Alexander had started and built up Students For Liberty to introduce the principles for a free society to young people around the world. He then ran Conscious Capitalism, Inc., the non-profit organization based on the bestselling book co-authored by John Mackey (co-founder and former CEO of Whole Foods). While at Conscious Capitalism, Alexander had two realizations that served as inspiration for Liberty Ventures:

1. Some capitalists are more interested in criticizing than uplifting capitalism. And this creates tensions with those who understand the power of capitalism as a force for good.

2. The best way to help capitalists be the best representatives of and advocates for capitalism is to help them be the best collaborators in capitalism, i.e. to do business together.

And so, Liberty Ventures was started to facilitate business between leaders who are committed to capitalism and the principles that underlie it. It began as an Angel Investor Syndicate with 25 investors that made its first investment in July 2023. As the syndicate invested in more startups led by values-aligned founders, the requests for support expanded and so the services Liberty Ventures offered values-aligned leaders expanded. We began providing advisors to help companies grow. We began connecting values-aligned talent with companies. And we started to organize events to help like-valued leaders meet, do business with, and elevate the teachings of other leaders. Now, in 2025, the Liberty Ventures network spans 20,000 investors, executives, and founders, is hosting over 70 events to bring them together, and facilitates hundreds of connections every month that have have an 80% success rate of leading to meetings and 13% success rate of turning into actionable business.
